Chalkboard Style Christmas Banner

In trying to keep with a neutral Christmas, I made this JOY banner.  I cut black chipboard and rubbed it with chalk to give it the chalkboard look.  I white embossed the letters from the Giant Alphabet collection from Oxford Impressions, and the label from O.E.'s Sleigh Bells collection.  Along the top edge, I attached a punched snowflake trim. I embellished with various scraps of vintage lace, rhinestones, buttons, and cut outs.  Silver tinsel trim and a spritz of shimmer finish it off.

But 'tis the season to be busy so I've JUST read & looked & not said HOW MUCH I enjoy it! I'll be BETTER - promise! In the meantime, I want to tell you that your creations and your spirit are lovely! Merry Christmas!

Hi Laura, wow, I'm crazy about your banner, and I've been over to the Oxford Impressions site to check on these stamps. I have a question, did you use these to stamp without some sort of "mounting"? I checked their site to see if they sold something, but couldn't find anything. I think they'd be great for using on a faux chalkboard. Could you just give me the lowdown on how you used them? just joined as a follower! thanks for linking up to Vintage Inspiration!

Hi Debra! So glad you liked the banner. I really love your site and will be happy to have more time to look at everything! I'm going to make a tutorial on mounting the stamps, because there are definitely "best" ways to do it--which I learned trial and error after many years. I'm going to check with Suzanne at O.E. right now about the mounting material as I've had others ask about that. My favorite is EZ Mount foam. I also find that trimming with a hot knife tip helps get very close to the rubber so no inky edges on your stamped project. Stay tuned for an update.
